NORCAS Street

Alcohol Detached Project

This project, based in Great Yarmouth and Waveney, is funded by Comic Relief and the Great Yarmouth and Waveney Primary Care Trust (PCT) – the organisation that runs the health service in your area. NORCAS Street is a detached youth alcohol service, which means that the workers are out on the street meeting young people like you, in the type of places you hang out.

It’s aimed at reducing youth and teens’ use of alcohol, reducing the harm it causes and helping you to get access to treatment services where appropriate. The PCT has also agreed to complement the street outreach work by paying for a worker to be based in the James Paget Hospital. They will provide youth alcohol services offering support and advice to young people and their families/carers, who’ve been admitted to hospital as a result of alcohol.

The main focus of this project is to provide information, and secondly to help young people to change their drinking behaviour, to reduce harm or to get the right treatment if needed.
