[how we help]

We offer a confidential service to all young people who need one - to - one support. That means we need your permission to share information with anyone else. In extreme circumstances we may need to break this confidentiality, but if so we'll always let you know. We'll explain exactly how it works at your first appointment.

Addiction or dependency?

Many people use and understand the word 'addiction' when referring to problem drinking, drug using or gambling, so we've used the term on our website. But at NORCAS, we often use the terms 'dependency' or 'addictive behaviour' instead because they're preferred by the World Health Organisation, and because they're less judgemental too.

You can expect us to:

  • Be non-judgemental, professional and honest
  • Assess your individual needs
  • Give you full information about the support you can get
  • Respect your privacy, dignity and confidentiality.

We expect you to:

  • Treat NORCAS staff with honesty and respect
  • Attend your appointments or let us know if you can't.

Confidentiality

We offer a confidential service to all young people, which means that we need their permission to share relevant information with anyone else. Information sharing is encouraged at all times, where it's in the best interest of the young person. Confidentiality is in line with safeguarding and child protection legislation and policy.
