NORCAS Appoints a Caring Foxy Lady

NORCAS Great Yarmouth, has called upon the unconditional love of a foxy lady to provide comfort, companionship and therapy to its service users.

Foxy Lady is a Parson Russell Terrier which regularly visits NORCAS in Great Yarmouth as one of the 4,500 P.A.T dogs and 108 P.A.T. cats registered with the charity Pets As Therapy.

Research shows that the companionship and therapeutic benefit of an animal companion can have positive effects on more vulnerable people, such as those who have problems with addictive behaviours.

Counsellor for NORCAS in Great Yarmouth, Sonya Farrell said: “Foxy has proven to be extremely popular with our service users. Some clients even phone in to check that she is there for their appointments before they attend! Foxy Lady provides unconditional love, which is something missing in some of our clients’ lives.  Service users often have trust issues and find it a great comfort to have an animal close to them and tend to let their barriers down and relax easily with Foxy in the room.”

Over 130,000 people benefit every week from the services provided by Pets As Therapy, which exist to bring comfort, companionship and therapy to people in hospitals, hospices, residential/nursing homes, day care centres, special needs schools and many other establishments throughout the UK.
